What is a micron?

A micron is a thousandth of a millimeter or a millionth of a meter. Micron is the unit of measure used to determinate the size of particles in fuel, oil and air which are filtered out by the filter. The expression is by µm, a measuring unit in language of filtration.

Should air filters be changed by miles or hours?
Air filters should be changed only by engine manufacturer's recommendations on air restriction as measured by an air restriction gauge. It also depends on environment in which air filters are used and the increased demand of fuel against the same traction also gives a inhand idea to change the filter or regenerate to some extend by cleaning from inside.
Will air filter efficiency change during the filter's life?
Air filter efficiency changes during the filter's life. Air filters are least efficient when new; dirt buildup on the outside of the filter making cakes of dirt to make it more efficient.
How often should change take place of safety element?
A: Safety or inner elements should be changed every third change of the primary element. Safety filter / inner element should preferably not be disturbed until this interval suggested for the change of safety / inner element.
What is the micron rating of Qaim air filters?
Air filters are measured on an efficiency basis over a wide range of particle sizes. Micron rating does not apply to Qaim air filters
What's the meaning of extension K in air filter reference?
Extension K stands for an air filter element equipped with fins. Air filter with fins are used on off-highway equipment (i.e. earth-moving, mining application). The fins are functioning as a pre-cleaner to extend the life of the filter element itself by part cleaning due to cyclonic affect pulling down the dust
Lube Oil and Hydraulic filters' by-pass setting, what is this?
Each lube oil filter and hydraulic filter system is equipped with a by-pass valve to ensure that main components in the system are sufficiently lubricated, independent if oil is cold or filter is blocked by excessive contamination. The by-pass valve can be located in the filter or filter head. Depending on the OEM manufacturer's specification, the setting of the by-pass valve can be different.
Lube Oil and Hydraulic filters' anti-drainback valve, what is this?
An anti-drain back valve is fitted in filters for applications where the risk exists that the filter is running empty normally where the filters are up or down installed at right angle to the plane. This situation has to be avoided, otherwise wear will occur on the moving parts as these parts may not be lubricated by oil during the small interval till the filter is filled with the oil pumped in.
